Death Valley Scenes & Wildflowers

19 February 2005

The Panamint Valley is located on the west side of the Panamint Mountains and Death Valley National Park.   It is sparsely vegetated with Creosote Bush Scrub and Chenopod Scrub on the valley floor surrounding Panamint Dry Lake.   The Argus Range and Slate Range bound the valley on the west, with the Argus to the north and the Slate to south.   There are no trees in this extremely arid desert valley.   Mining claims, mostly long abandoned, are common on the surrounding mountains, with some of the mines containing ghost towns, such as Ballarat.
