Manhole Covers of Loomis, Placer County, California

Loomis is a small but growing railroad station town along Interstate 80.   It occurs at an elevation of 399 feet above sea level.   Loomis has a population of 6,250, composed of 89% White and 4.4% Hispanic residents.   Loomis as established in 1850, and finally incorporated on 17 December 1984, now occupying about 7.3 square miles.   Loomis was incorporated for the sole purpose of preventing the neighboring city of Rocklin from annexing Loomis into its city limits.   The median family income for Loomis residents is $64,837 and the per capita income is $30,384.   The town was once the second largest fruit-shipping station in Placer County, via train.   The natural vegetation around Loomis consists of Foothill Pine-Blue Oak Woodland and California Annual Grassland.   Additional information about Loomis can be found at Loomis Info or at the official Loomis Town site.
