Hacienda Heights is a neighborhood community just northeast of the Puente Hills in the eastern part of Los Angeles County.   It is located at the southeastern edge of the San Gabriel Valley and up the north slope of the Puente Hills, bordered by La Puente and West Covina to the north, Whittier to the west, La Habra Heights to the south, and Rowland Heights to the east.   Hacienda Heights is generally a bedroom community occupying 11.4 square miles.   The Puente Hills Landfill Native Habitat Authority manages much of the Puente Hills located to the south and west of Hacienta Heights, providing important native habitats and wildlands to an otherwise very urban area.

Hacienda Heights had a population of 53,122 in 2000, consisting of 41.0% Whites, 36.1% Asians, and 38.3% Hispanics.   An attempt to form a city out of the community in 2003 failed by a 2:1 ratio.   The median family (household) income is $41,485.   Additional information about Hacienda Heights can be found at Hacienda Heights Info site.

I found four varieties of manhole covers in Hacienda Heights.
