Clipper Mountains Scenes and Wildflowers

24 March 2005

The Clipper Mountains are in the eastern Mojave Desert between Interstate 40 and U.S. Route 66, San Bernardino County, California.   The Clippers trend northeast-southwest and are bounded by the Marble Mountains to the west, I-40 and the Clipper Wash to the north, Essex Valley to the east, and Route 66 to the south.

The photographs in the following pages were taken at four locations: on the north slope in Goldhammer Wash, on the east near Essex Road, within Bonanza Wash on the south side near Route 66 at Danby, and at Bonanza Spring.   Very few have botanized the Clippers, so one of our goals for this group of CNPS botanists to document the flora during this very wet year.
